Sensory foraging

Hamptonne Country Life Museum, Jersey, 49.225042, -2.136016

Details

Meeting at the Hamptonne car park, we'll wander down into the valley, where we will explore the lanes and the National Trust for Jersey land, Le Don Sinkin, foraging, getting to know the plants, edible and medicinal, that we find, with our senses. An opportunity to gather plant food and medicine, this session will introduce the ways of connecting with plants so that we develop a relationship with our surroundings, getting to know where particular plants grow, what conditions they need to thrive. When foraging, doing so sustainably and regeneratively is vital. So is knowing what you gather, plant keys help identify, as well as good foraging books with illustrations and/or photographs. £35 pp, including foraged wild herbal tea and homemade cake. I have volunteered to be part of the Wild Biome Project 2025, to live on wild foods for 3 months from April to June. I am doing this as I have suffered with debilitating chronic gut issues since I was a teenager, only my own explorations into natural medicines have helped me over the years. This is another departure, a radical one, to see for myself what a difference to my microbiome eating wild foods will make. Join me as I deepen my knowledge of our island’s wild resources.
