Join us for a spectacular Liberation Day celebration as the renowned Liberation Orchestra , directed by the internationally acclaimed violinist Harriet Mackenzie, take you on a vibrant musical journey blending old and new with an exciting Latin American twist. From Mozart to tango to wartime songs the evening will celebrate the diversity of the nations and the triumph of good over evil 80 years ago. The concert begins with Mozart’s spirited Divertimento in F , a charming and lively work from one of the greatest composers. The centre piece of the evening is the world premiere of Ariel Pirotti’s Liberation Tango Concerto for Violin and orchestra commissioned for the Liberation Festival. This thrilling piece, full of fiery passion and rhythmic drive, perfectly embodies the essence of tango, with soloist Harriet Mackenzie bringing it to life through her virtuosic performance. The concert continues with Astor Piazzolla’s Four Seasons of Buenos Aires , a dramatic reimagining of Vivaldi’s iconic work infused with the sultry rhythms and heartfelt emotion of Argentine tango. Piazzolla masterfully blends the irresistible energy of South American music, creating a compelling fusion that transcends time and place. The concert ends with a medley of wartime melodies including I'll be Seeing You capturing the spirit of Liberation Day.
