SILVER SPITFIRE: The Longest Flight

We are really excited to be able to offer this latest talk at the club. Matt Jones, one of the pilots who flew the G-IRTY the Silver Spitfire around the world in 2019, will be talking us through his adventures. Whilst doing so, he set a Guinness World Record for the fastest circumnavigation by a single seat, single engine piston aircraft. "In 2019, we embarked on a global 'Boys Own' adventure with the Silver Spitfire to inspire and commemorate. What we experienced was terrifying and awe-inspiring in equal measure. Facing challenges at every turn, this iconic aircraft brought together people from all walks of life, uniting nations and showcasing the enduring legacy of R.J. Mitchell's visionary design." Whilst we are a members club, this event is open to non-members who may be interested in the beautiful Spitfire, and may wish to join as a social member.
