Join Music in Action for a heart-warming Liberation Day celebration concert at the Jersey Opera House for the very first time since its restoration as part of the Liberation International Music Festival. Taking place on the 9th of May, this special event marks the 80th anniversary of Liberation in the most fitting of venues—bringing music, memory, love and celebration together under the historic roof. It is the first day of 9 days of events across the island from classic tunes and film music with the Jersey Chamber Orchestra on Saturday 10th May , a play about Jersey heroine Claude Cahun on 15th May , to Jazz at Hamptonnne on 18th May . The Liberation Day Concert stars the world renowned Philharmonia Orchestra, international soloist Harriet Mackenzie on violin and Jersey singer Georgia Mae-Bishop as the evening celebrates the diversity of nations from Mozart to tango to wartime songs. ______________________________________ NOTE: The charity Music in Action and the Jersey Opera House are working as hard as possible to ensure that the concert will go ahead at the Opera House. Please see the "Important Venue Information" below concerning the contingency plans for an alternative venue should the Opera House not be ready. ________________________________________ The concert begins with Mozart’s spirited Divertimento in F, a charming and lively work from one of the greatest composers before we move to a celebration of dance and tango.
