Jersey Branch Director Tarnia explains the rewards of being a Samaritans volunteer: “The local branch of Samaritans is a diverse, close-knit group of people who willingly answer thousands of calls a year. To be entrusted to a caller’s innermost thoughts, feelings and emotions at a time when they may be feeling at their lowest and most vulnerable, is incredibly humbling. The excellent training not only prepares you for communicating with our callers without giving advice but opens up a new way of communication with friends and family. Our information evening is open to anyone who wants to find out more about how they can give their time to a truly unique charity”.
